A workshop was held at Silliman University (Philippines).

■ 06 December 2019
" Let's play with Mind Render and micro:bit! " was released on Apple Books and Kindle.

At the 113th Annual Anniversary Festival of Seigakuin Junior & Senior High School, a VR experience project using Mind Render was conducted and exhibited by students.

The University of Tokyo, Engineering's Junior class started an AI lecture/drill using Mind Render environment.

Mind Render has been selected to be used in Department of Global Information Communication Technology class, College of Business and Communication (Kawasaki).

New Challenges

We are challenging two new content that utilize AI and games in Mind Render.

AI

Adding AI power to Mind Render

Project 1:   With the cooperation from The University of Tokyo, we are developing racing cars and cleaning robots which are trained by machine learning logic.
Project 2:   We are trying to provide AI learning kit for college students which help them understand the basics of AI.

By using AI (machine learning), cars are learning how to avoid colliding into the wall and rocks.

(Operating Environment: Unity, Learning Method: Neuroevolution)

You would cheer on the cars that are learning, "Come on, you can do it!"

A car equipped with AI that learned through the above process is imported into Mind Render.

You can move rocks by yourself (at your will) and you will check whether the car can avoid the rocks in some degree.
(By running more complicated tracks with machine learning, the car will be equipped with better self-driving technic.)

The car is thinking and doing its best!

Combination with Game Elements

We are planning to create content so that elementary grade students can learn the basics of programming through fun game elements.

Content

5 different themes of Lab and 2 advanced labs are provided. You can start from any lab that looks interesting.
It also provides " Playground " where you can freely write your own programs.

Lab1

Lab 1:  Make your own room

You can create your own room by placing furniture in the 3D space. You will challenge a program for a vacuum robot, too.

Lab2

Lab 2:  Move a drone

Fly a drone to search through the city and skyscrapers in downtown. You will challenge a program for auto patrolling the skyscrapers.

Lab3

Lab 3:  Learn about Japan in 3D

Draw a 3D graph on a Japan or world map.

Lab4

Lab 4:  Shoot a cannon

Aim at the target despite side wind or beyond the top of the wall.

Lab5

Lab 5:  Run a race track

You will run on a race track and snowy mountains. Challenge to make a program for auto driving.

Adv1

Adv 1:  Observe the solar system

Challenge missions related to planets orbiting and the moon.

Adv2

Adv 2:  Auto drive/advanced

Challenge auto driving on a track that has grade intersection.

Connecting with external hardware

You can connect Mind Render to external hardware such as micro:bit and game controllers.
We are currently considering connectivity to smart speakers and linking to external applications.

Mind Render can talk to micro:bit board, utilizing sensors and switches.

* You will need to install micro:bit HEX file to micro:bit.



You can download the e-book " Let's Play with Mind Render and micro:bit !" that introduces fun experiments using micro:bit.

Controller

You can operate Mind Render's drones, cars, characters, etc. with a controller. You can connect two controllers, so that two players can play.

You can maneuver an actual drone using Mind Render. That is currently under experimentation.
